History
The first meeting to form a bowls club was held 1945. In what was once the Police horses’ paddock, the first green was completed in 1947 and the second in 1958. Both greens were planted with Tilt Dwarf in 1981.
The original clubhouse was built in 1951 and was improved and updated 1958, 1983 and 1991. The first pennant team was entered in the Ovens and Murray competition in 1953/1954.
At first the ladies were not part of MBC so a meeting was held in the CWA hall on April 27th 1948 with the object of forming a Ladies Social Committee. At a meeting in March 1949 permission was given to ask to form an Associates Bowls Club. At the Annual General Meeting in July 1949 it was unanimously decided to form the Associates Bowls Club.
The Associates agreed to seek affiliation with the VLBA in October 1950. In the year 2016/2017 the VLBA and the RVBA amalgamated to form Bowls Victoria. The club changed their administration to a board of management which is still running today.
Since entering Pennant teams in the Ovens and Murray District competition, our Pennant sides have had success winning Pennant in most grades, both men and woman.
